John K. Chan, MBA, CFP®
George A. Hinojosa
Born and raised in San Antonio, he originally pursued a pre-medical track by attending UT Austin and then graduating with a B.S. in Biochemistry in 2005. Finding his calling in helping individuals with their financial health, he began his financial career with Alamo Insurance & Wealth Management in the aftermath of the financial meltdown of 2008-2009. During this time, he also pursued and obtained his M.B.A. with a Concentration in Finance from the University of Texas at San Antonio in December 2011 and is a Certified Financial Planner™.
Outside of work, John enjoys spending time with family, reading, research, and gives time to charitable organizations such as the American Diabetes Association and to events such as the free Financial Planning Days held by the Financial Planning Associationand the CFP® Board.
George was born and raised in Brownsville, Tx, and graduated with a B.A. in Government from UT Brownsville in 2011. He is dedicated to servicing his clients at a high level which led him to start GHWM, D.B.A Independence Wealth Group, in 2014 in Brownsville, TX and now has expanded to San Antonio, TX.
His primary focus is making small business owners and families more efficient and effective, which can help improve their bottom line or financial position. Outside of work he loves to spend time with his family and friends, traveling, and reading anything regarding investment strategy or planning.
